  • Pitching Rules: USSSA rules apply (coach’s responsibility to keep up with his own team’s pitching and expected to follow an honor system in enforcing these rules.) Umpires and tournament directors are not responsible for pitch counts; therefore there can be no official protest for pitch count violations.
  • If it rains or we have severe weather the game clock WILL CONTINUE to run during any delay.
  • If time expires, score will revert back to last completed inning, Must be 4 complete innings. If time expires during a delay in a game with less than 4 innings, time will resume from the time the game was called and the game will continue to the time limit or to 4 complete innings (whichever comes first.)

  • 9U-12U - no new inning after 1:30

  • All teams will participate in bracket play (or consolation games) beginning Sunday (unless modified for one day tournament).

  • All Teams must check in at the Gate and pay any unpaid team fees before first game.
  • Three (3) new game balls will be provided for each game (in addition to good baseballs from previous games). If additional baseballs are needed, each team will be responsible for providing those baseballs. Please have your players help with foul balls. Baseballs must be NCAA or NFHS approved.
  • Please clean up cages and dugouts when leaving.

  2. Head to Head
  3. Runs Allowed
  4. Runs Differential

  6. Coin toss.

(If 3 or more teams have the same record, the tie breaker then goes to runs allowed, run differential, runs scored, and finally a coin toss.)

TIME LIMIT

  • If the game is tied when the time limit expires, the game will end in a tie.
  • If the game is tied after 7 and the time limit has not expired you may play extra-innings to break the tie.
  • If still tied after time has expired, the game will end in a tie.  ½ W and ½ L for both teams.

RUN RULES

  • 15 runs after 3 innings
  • 10 after 4 innings

Rain/Weather policy

"Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." - Nuke LaLoosh

We will work tirelessly to find a way to find a way for you to get your games in!

  • If it rains or we have severe weather the game clock WILL CONTINUE to run during any delay. If time expires, the score will revert back to the last completed inning, Must be 4 complete innings. If time expires during a delay in a game with less than 4 innings, time will resume from the time the game was called and the game will continue to the time limit or to 4 complete innings (whichever comes first.)
  • Every effort will be made to get each team a min of 3 games. Time limits and tournament format may be altered due to weather.
  • If rain occurs, the championship round may be altered!!
  • Once your team has an opportunity to play two games there will be no refunds due to weather. If only one game is completed, a prorated credit will be issued for a future Tri-Star tournament.
  • If the tournament is canceled before any games are played, a full refund or credit will be issued.

Game Rules

  • Ejection is for that game only unless ruled otherwise by tournament director
  • Umpire will keep start time (no new inning after limit)
  • No infield before games - No exceptions.
  • Cages will not be available unless host site makes an exception
  • FREE Substitution on Defense! (Except pitcher, once a pitcher is removed from the mound he can not return the same game)
  • Courtesy runner for pitcher and catcher (Needs to be a player not in game, if every player is in game then it can be player who made last out). Please use courtesy for Catcher with 2 outs!
  • Offense: Each team can decide to hit straight nine, use DH for any hitter, use an EH to hit ten players or can hit everybody on roster. However, you must finish the game you start.
  • Major league rule on trips to the mound (second trip in same inning to same pitcher, he has to come out)
  • Pitching Rules: We strongly recommend coaches follow TSSAA or Pitch Smart pitch counts (coach’s responsibility to keep up with his own team’s pitching and expected to follow an honor system in enforcing these rules. Umpires and tournament directors are not responsible for pitch counts; therefore there can be no official protest for pitch count violations.) For coaches unfamiliar with these guidelines, please check USA/MLB Pitch Smart recommendations below

BRACKET PLAY

  • All teams will play 2 pool games to be seeded for single-elimination bracket play or a consolation game.
  • Refer to TourneyMachine for your division’s bracket and consolation game format.
  • In the case that a team plays a 3rd pool play game in order to provide another team with their 2nd pool game, the results (including tie-breakers such as runs-allowed, etc) of that game will not count for the team playing their 3rd game (results do count for the team playing their 3rd pool game).
  • In the case that seeding results in 2 teams from the same organization playing each other in the FIRST round of bracket play (excluding byes), their seeding MAY be switched at the tournament director’s discretion to avoid their playing each other in the first round of bracket play. For example: In a 6 team single elimination bracket with 1 and 2 having a bye, the 3 and 6 seeds are from the same organization and are seeded to play each other in the first round. The 5 seed MAY be switched with the 6 seed to allow the first round to proceed without the 2 teams from the same organization having to face each other in the first round.
  • In Championship Round Only – If time expires and the score is tied or the score is tied at the end of 7 innings, we will play until the tie is broken. Bracket games will have a 1:50 time limit.
  • International Tie Breaker rules begin at end of 7 innings or end of time limit - last out of previous inning starts inning at 2nd base.
